I just saw an episode of Bones built around Pony Play. Played for humor, of course, and Dr Brennan commented that fetishism serves to distance the dom and sub from each other emotionally, so they can have sex without emotional connection. And at the end of the episode, Seely declared that BDSM sex is crappy sex and inferior to love-making. Sigh.
