Dark and foreboding, the film's best moments detail the simmering passion between Haven and Money that pays off when the lovers introduce Leslie into their now illicit relationship. It all unfolds like a smoky wet dream. The dreamy ambience keeps you glued, and the finale is impossible to predict.

Description: A classic of adult cinema, this title involves an engaging mystery to compliment its sweaty sex and rapacious romping. Amanda Heather is a high-class call girl trying to go straight. A last favor for a former pimp-lover results in the death of one of Amandas young prostitute friends and she is inexorably drawn into a spiral of brutality, corruption, violent sensuality and ever-building tension as the murderer stalks her. Her emotions are brought to the boiling point by the persistent, tormenting questions of detective Ambrose Harte as he struggles to solve the murders and free Amanda from the treacherous web of lust that is her working life. Lucky thing she is right in her element. This was a high point of 1980s adult fare, mixing all of the elements of classic film art style with lots of explicit sex.

If you can imagine a Brian de Palma thriller circa from the late 70's, with less visual flair but with hardcore sex, that's what I think "Amanda" is like. It seems that everyone concerned is doing the best acting of their careers - Ron Jeremy as a crooked vice cop, Jamie Gillis as a sleazebag pimp, Richard Bolla as the good homicide cop with bad fashion sense, Veronica Hart as the good upscale hooker with a heart of gold, who is in line to be a victim when the bad guys try to eliminate possible witnesses to a murder. There is also a notable performance by Lisa de Leeuw and an appearance by Herschel Savage in a party scene - he has sex with 2 women.
