Description: For those who really know the kung fu scene here in the USA; Ric Meyers is well known and polarizing figure. On the one side you have everybody; and on the other you have Ric. A lot has been said about the man; much of it conjecture; and of that; much of it obviously false. What is not conjecture is that Ric Meyers frequently spreads misinformation in his commentaries; articles; and liner notes; yet is still collecting paychecks as a "kung fu movie expert" from people who don't know any better (but should).

Aspiring actress Cathy Messenger (Linnea Quigley, billed as "Christine Sharpe") thinks she's going in for an audition but instead falls into the clutches of a couple of kinky weirdos. Vera (Crystal Breeze, as "Barbara Blade"), who is Cathy's angry ex-stepmother, and her lover/accomplice Brett (David Williams) attack Cathy as soon as she walks in the door for her "audition." They berate her, slap her ass, sing "The Worms Crawl In, The Worms Crawl Out" to her, call her "slut" and "bitch" a bunch of times, gag her, do this elaborate job tying her up with a rope, cover her with a blanket and then stick her in the trunk of a car and drive off. Meanwhile, at the Kidnapped Girls Agency (a place specializing in locating missing girls), private eye Tracey Tailor (Michelle Bauer, as "Kim Bittner") gets a call from Cathy's concerned father, who hires Tracey and her partner Andy Baltimore (Ric Meyers) to find his missing daughter.

Cathy is taken to a specially equipped room where Vera informs her they are going to introduce her to the "WAC Club." That's the Whip and Chains Club. After being untied (which takes several minutes), Cathy is drugged with chloroform "joy juice," is stripped naked and is dressed in a leather bikini. Then she's tied up a second time and put on a leash. Since Cathy told her large-breasted roommate Tina (played by "Tuesday Bleu") about the audition, Vera and Brett decide to go kidnap her, too. Tina basically goes through the same routine as Cathy except they use tape instead of rope. Tina is brought back to the room, is stripped, is dressed in a bikini, is whipped a little, gets rubbed down with lotion and is tied back to back with Cathy. Vera and Brett decide to torture them both a little more before ultimately trying to sell them on the white slave market. Can Tracey and Andy make it there to free the girls in time?

Description: The semblance of horror and pornography was gaining popularity in the mid 70's. As mentioned in Severed Cinema's recent review of Slaughter Disc; European horror filmmakers such as Joe D'Amato; and Jess Franco were embracing hardcore XXX scenes in their work. However Europe wasn't the only continent demonstrating full-blown horror porn. Across the sea in North America; the US was also making their mark as horror porn sleaze peddlers. The best and most prominent sickie of this forbidden sub-genre is best known in the underground as Hardgore.

Maria (Justina Lynn) is a troubled girl. She is an uncontrollable nymphomaniac who is brought to Fox Hollows Sanatorium under the care and supervision of Dr. George (John Seeman; Inside Desiree Cousteau). She is hastily put into therapeutic care by way of her sexy nurse who seduces Maria; with her tight ass. The remedy begins with some double beaver humpage; finished with a shower cunnilingus scene and more bushy delights. Later that day boredom strikes young Maria; and upon further inspection of her room she finds a couple vibrators to play with and chooses one. "Look at the size of that lovely thing" she says. "Oh well might as well take advantage of it." Allowing the viewer more untainted eroticism before the bloodbath.

That night Maria is awakened to find the nurse with her throat slit. Distressed; she runs down the hallway (while naked) to escape but is captured and brought into a room. After some very bizarre visuals she appears on a table and is forced to suck the cocks of two men adorned in white cloth masks. There are women present that fondle her while she is busy. Whilst mid-blowjob; one of the men's penises is lopped off replacing the inevitable cumshot with a bloodshot. Nice!

The next morning Maria awakens to find Dr. George and a new nurse at her bedside. A boom mic is blatantly present during this scene; and I began to wonder if it was going to be used for "therapeutic" purposes. Dr. George dismisses what happened that night saying that Maria was in fact running the halls harassing fellow patients. When asked about her nurse; Dr. George claims she left that morning. The thought of escaping is also shut down when Maria finds out that Fox Hollows is secured by an armed guard and dog. This causes Maria to quickly find solace in her new nurse's pussy; in a sequence that goes down in literary comedic history. Her nurse uses an electric vibrator and when it starts to shoot smoke she shouts the hilarious dialog "Call my mother"; "call a doctor"; and "call the fire department."

The nights continue to bring orgies of the damned; organized by a man wearing a large devil mask over his face. While chanting unknown satanic gibberish he likes getting his dick sucked; which results in many an enormous female facial. The ritualistic orgies get more intense with chicks guillotined while being fucked from behind just prior to orgasm to heighten their sadistic pleasure. If Maria doesn't escape soon; she will end up one of the dead Horror Whore's!

Hardgore is an insanely bizarre little romp into XXX horror territory. Director Michael Hugo shows a distinct visual style of horror porn separate from his European counterparts. Hugo manages to push boundaries by including some absolutely insane scenes like talking penises; the guillotine orgasm fuck and the severed penis blowjob as mentioned earlier. He even throws in some necrophilia and dead chicks 'n chains for good measure. Hardgore depicts blood soaked sleaze in a distorted psychedelic environment which is aided by the film's use of electro grooves that linger as background music. See the phantom flying dildos spraying sparks and gallons of cum over unsuspecting Maria. Not settling there Hugo also attempts to portray his artistic flair throughout his various hardcore sequences. The continuous camera rotation while a couple has sex is a prime example.

Hardgore is a truly unique 70's obscurity and masterpiece of filth cinema. If you haven't already delved into true American sleaze like this you won't know the joy of bent candles in moist places.

It's a good old fashion Nazisploitation and has a decent plot. It's almost a women in cages movie but with a nazi twist. These doctors do weird and horrible experiments on female prisoners but there are two doctors who are trying to shut the whole operation down. What I remember the most is this odd perverted guy named Kurt running around trying to rape and molest women the whole entire time. I'm not sure if he is suppose to be retarded or a experiment himself; but he is funny and the comic relief of the film. I'm not sure if the film makers intended on him being funny; but it's too late. He's hilarious!

Description: Sexploitation vet John Tull stars as Sammy Beal, a less-than-scrupulous boxing manager whose current protege is virginal country boy Johnny (Steven Hodge).
While this is technically a women and mobsters movie, it is really a roughie. That is, the naked women are knocked around by the men at some point in the film. I am not sure why these were made, although I suspect that the violence made the exposure more acceptable to the censors. The story concerns a young fighter getting ready for his title shot, a ruthless manager who is trying to manipulate the odds, some underworld types who actually control the fight game, and the cliched punch drunk assistant trainer. All of this is really only a pretext to show naked women. The acting is abysmal, the plot is completely lame, and the transfer is obviously made from multiple work prints, some of which are in very bad shape. There is some good news, however.

Lets start with Uschi Digard in a pool side sex scene where she shows all three Bs. The scene is fairly hot, and the transfer in this segment is not that bad.

Description: Lila (played by Susan Stewart) is a good-natured go-go dancer who strips at a seedy topless bar on the Sunset Strip. After ingesting LSD, Lila becomes a psychopathic serial killer. She continues to pick up men at the bar where she is employed, but after her sanity is lost she routinely is interrupted mid-coitus by psychedelic bad trips in which she visualizes a balding, half-naked old man clutching wads of cash in one hand and a bunch of bananas in the other. These psychotic episodes cause her to murder her partners by stabbing them with a screwdriver and dismembering them with a rusty meat cleaver (or in one case, a garden hoe) while imagining that she is cutting up cantaloupes and watermelons.

Description: The Big Bird Cage is a lovely movie all around. There's plenty of gorgeous and fertile *ahem* scenery. And by scenery I mean the constant nudity, as well as Pam Grier's majorly caged rack (she doesn't take it off in this one!). The Big Bird Cage is a damn entertaining movie. It's part zany, part savage, and hella impressive throughout. Both this movie and its predecessor, The Big Doll House, are in a completely different grade level than their peers in the women-in-prison genre. The Big Doll House was a huge success, grossing $10 million in theaters. The BBC followed it up strong with the same formula that made the first one great. The sets and the cast were expanded for The BBC, but each of the characters still retain the same uniquely endearing camp qualities that make the scenes memorable. Jack Hill, the writer and director of both films, has been largely credited for pioneering the women in prison genre based on these two movies.

The action starts quick in The Big Bird Cage. Pam Grier, Sid Haig, and their fellow band of militant rebels take over a restaurant and kidnap some tourists to use for ransom. Sid Haig plays an impressively dirty role yet again, as he always did in Jack Hill's movies. One of their kidnap victims, rather than getting saved by the local policia, gets sent to prison for being a high profile slut with unsavory ties to all the country's politicians. The sexy antics in the prison camp are endless, let me tell ya. There's the dike-ish authoritarian, the Viking-ish musclebound broad, the spunky black chick. But just when everything starts feeling completely Hogan's Heroes, one of the gay prison guards hits a bitch in the face and shackles her to the bed - and more such savagery.

When Pam Grier eventually enters the prison she moves up to head-bitch-in-charge damn quick. The rest of the rebels eventually arrive to free the women at the end of the film, resulting in an amazingly brutal series of events that ends with [SPOILER ALERT] every fucking person dying! It's great. Buildings catch on fire (giving rise to a bad ass burning-negative-wipe), guards get hacked to death by machetes, women get mowed down by automatic gunfire, and even Sid Haig and Pam Grier meet their demise in a super classic last stand death sequence. My favorite scene over all was probably the part where two female prisoners gang rape one of the gay prison guards for revenge (he eventually gets killed when the real mayhem starts). Basically, The Big Bird Cage hits like you wanna be hit, and doesn't bullshit.

Description: IF EVER a film made you question your moral judgement, sense of humour and film-buying decisions, then Island Of Death is it. This succinctly-titled Seventies Greek blasterpiece is something of a tour de force of sado masochistic sex and violence, and after watching it you can't help but sit there and think: "how on earth did they ever get to make a film like this?" The catch is: you'll probably be giggling to yourself as you think this - trying to work out how you're going to explain what you just saw to your friends and colleagues. Such is the gleeful innocence in which writer/director/producer Mastoriakis presents the unbelievable on-screen carnage.

If you've never seen Island Of Death you're probably sat there thinking: "what could be so bad?" Well, as a film, Island Of Death is greater than the sum of it's parts. There's no point writing a big list of all the shocking scenes it contains. Better to sum up the way it makes you feel after a viewing. Which is: dazed, confused, elated, digusted and (most probably) turned-on (though you'd never admit it).

It's a story about a young couple - Christopher (Bob Belling) and Celia (Jane Ryall), on vacation in Greece. Initially they seem like a normal, fun-loving couple, but very quickly it becomes apparent that there is a screw loose when the couple begin to trap, torture and murder innocent locals in order to "rid the island of perversion."

Eventually Christopher and Celia are tracked by the police, but only after maiming and raping half a Greek island. It's hilarious, wince-inducing stuff, and thankfully well-filmed. Mastorakis undoubtedly pushes it with the sex and violence, but there is an undoubted charm and naivety to this film that prevents you from turning it off. It's, strangely, very watchable. In fact, no one could accuse Island Of Death of being unwatchable. Questionable - yes. And possibly unlistenable, to some (it's got a very unique soundtrack). But not unwatchable.

Those bound by the laws of political correctness will hate this film and the way it victimises minorities. Those with a sense of humour, though, will realise that Island Of Death is one of the most daring films ever made. Mastorakis may not have had much of a budget, but he had massive balls.
