This little known Italian thriller tells a typical giallo story, but has clearly been influenced by John Carpenter's Halloween. A group of people spend a weekend at a friend's house. Early in the movie, one of the females is killed by a disfigured killer, who rapes his victim post mortem. Soon after this, it becomes clear that the simple minded murderer is paid by an unknown person for the crime - with Lego (that's a cheap contract killer... toys instead of cash)! Soon, the other guests worry about the first victim, because (naturally) she hasn't returned. But before they find the body or realize that they are stalked by a maniac, one by one falls victim to the crazed lunatic.

"Reincarnation of Isabel" is a great example of good Euro-trash. It triumphs over its obviously low budget through a combination of gore, unintentional humor, a great score, flashy camera work, and large amounts of gratuitous nudity. It is surprising that this movie has not received a cult status yet, being that it is better than many cult movies. Thanks must be given to Redemption (the company that put this out) for finding a print of this movie, which was long considered lost, and giving it its first domestic release ever.

It passed the National Board of Review in 1932.

Highly entertaining slasher movie, that is the quintessence of 80's American horror. A gym full of lithe young things is being terrorised by an unknown killer. Could it be that it's a plot device to excuse lots of gratuitous shots of Lycra clad cleavage and backsides? Of course it could. The acting is rudimentary, and the scripting and direction roughly equivalent, but we don't expect miracles from cheap slashers, surely. That's about all there is to it. The gore quotient is fairly minimal, but the death scenes are effectively filmed, and tension is applied on occasion.
