First off, stay away from the "metallic" ones they burn at a higher temp and run the risk of serious injury which ruins any play.

Next, Do more diligent research, look at the web, and craft stores or depts... there are kits that allow children to make candles, without serious burns... and in any case, make sure to start a good distance away from the subject in question.. allowing for the temp of the wax to cool as it falls thru the air.. guage the reactions and go from there.

I would just buy a candle warmer or two, then get a couple large candles in those thick glass cases. You still need to be careful, it is extremely hot, but it is cheap, easy and reliable (sort of like a good sub) and you don't need to go out getting candle making kits or something crazy, I mean honestly who wants to make candles just to melt them again for hot wax to pour on a sub, what a waste of time. Also you can choose scents that appeal to you which is also kind of nice. Just another element of control.
