I just found out about this. Does this also refer to BDSM whipping/caning videos involving consenting adults?

I think it might well cover some forms of caning and whipping videos, under points A and B. Censorship laws tend to get applied rather broadly.

Looks like it would certainly include some of the torture videos I've seen.

I don't like them anyway, but it would seem that mainstream bondage, flogging, non-damaging corporal punishment, forced orgasms, etc... would not be. I would not want to be the person to test it.
I agree with Sebastian regarding the way censorship laws are applied.

c and d seem fair enough but a and b sound ambiguous.

    "* (a) an act which threatens a person’s life"
Does this mean a video of a woman smoking a cigarette is now illegal since she is threatening her life?

"* (b) an act which results, or is likely to result, in serious injury to a person’s anus, breasts or genitals"
Spanking a bottom is hardly going to result in serious injury IMO. But it all depends on what "serious injury" means- some people might consider welts and blood as serious. And some people might group anus and bottom together.

The law was introduced in the UK after some guy addicted to violent porn murdered his gf. But I can't see how it will save any lives as the porn is still out there, and if someone doesn't care about the consequences of murder they are hardly going to care about the consequences of viewing illegal porn. The theory sounds good but in practice it just won't work.

And the people who end up being caught out will just be harmless people who happen to have a healthy interest in BDSM.
