Something I've noticed

Well my posts might not always be fabulous, but I am a chatterbox and also enjoy all the regulars that post on frequent basis even when slightly off topic.
As far as the porn goes, I love the pics of actual members but the porn movies frankly scare me! I mean I love BDSM but holy cow some of these clips are nightmare inducing and more like extreme torture, they would turn me totally off BDSM if I was new. I just hate to see people in sexual situations that are clearly in massive pain and don’t seem to be enjoying it. If I knew they were enjoying it and were willing participants then it would be different. The emotional/mental aspect of BDSM that I love so much just doesn’t lend itself to video as well.

I only joined like a few weeks ago or something and I havent posted at all really but i look around nearly every day! I just never feel like i have something relevant to say and because im kind of new to this stuff i dont wanna look stupid, i guess im kinda shy! I tend to write out replies but then im like nah no point in posting that, ha! I have looked at the porn a bit but i think like Sparrow said it would be more the personal stuff and all, i dont like porn, too fake! It does seem to be kind of a close forum like there are a lot of regular posters so there is a tendancy to feel like your trying to break into cliques if you get me so maybe thats why a lot of people dont post.

This is pretty much what I do, also.

I just don't post too much because I like my posts to be relevant and on-topic, and i don't feel the need to post on a thread

- that doesn't interest me
- where what I would have said has already been said
- with potential for argument

and other such things.

But I still lurk and read. :)

For a while, I was posting just to get used to things. Get into the conversations. Get to know the people here.

Now that I'm starting to settle in, I'm slowing down in my posting and doing what you are. In fact, just like Emma said, I've started to type out a response, but don't end up posting it for one reason your reasons usually.

Though there is one more thing that I've decided to do to cut back on the posting: something obvious that will be said, or just doesn't need to be said.

Please report the non bdsm posts to in the future, i'll go and check it out now, as it specifically says "BDSM Videos from the net"

Wasn't aware that it was something to report. From now on I will, but I doubt you'll hear anything from me. Really, I only looked once or twice just to see what was there, and that's when I stumbled upon some vanilla stuff.

That board has the most posts out of any other. Not to mention that the majority of those posts are all from the same few people posting more and more links in the thread they started. Still, even if the porn is BDSM related, do we really need that much on the forum?

I get what you guys are saying but if we all start to analyze our posts too much before we hit 'submit' the forum would have even less people posting! This isn't rocket science, if you have something to say then say it. Join in and help the community grow. I think most of us do a good job of staying on topic (Sparrow redirects when needed) while injecting some fun too.

While I don't actively use the porn on here, that doesn't mean we don't use it at all. See, the fluid dynamics of the internet and search engines, is quite simple, yet complex. To simplify it, Visits are referred to as Hits, and posts as, well, Posts. in order to rank highly on a search engine, you need a certain number of hits and posts, known as "traffic."

By the porn users posting the porn, it drives up our posts, and by the other users looking at the porn, and using the refresh and back buttons to go from enlarged pic back to the site and on to the next pic, and so on and so forth, we generate hits. the average of the posts and hits equals our traffic number, and that is the number used to place us in the ranks of sites on search engines like, google, yahoo, and so on and so forth.

So in summary, without the porn being posted and looked at, the majority of us wouldn't have found this place to have this amazing community to have the conversations with.

Hmm. Guess I never thought of that. That is a valid point. Maybe some of us should encourage people to post things other than just porn then.

And Supspace, what I was referring to about beginning to type a reply, and then refraining to do so can be explained better. Say someone asks a question in the Safety Aspects area and multiple people have already responded with it. Posting "Yeah, it's dangerous" when it's already been stated, or just very obvious in one or more of the other posts, is very redundant. And the same would go for that comment for any future posts. Basically, if I want to say something, but I don't have any useful advice or input, I decide that it's better left unsaid until someone can post a more detailed and fleshed out post.

My reasoning behind stopping that style of posting is that I noticed that my post count was practically skyrocketing at one point. While my posts jumped, my input decreased. Instead, I am choosing to wait until I have a few posts to build on all at once. If you couldn't tell, I love typing big blocks of text, rather than short sentences that only offer a small amount of information.
