I have claurophobia (fear of clowns) and I've had it for about 4-5 years (I'm 15). It started when my brother showed me the trailer for Stephen King's IT; I had a few bad dreams but the worst part was (and still is) the if I go to the loo in the night, the bathroom is right next to the attic stairs and I can always see a shadow. And I'm always convinced he's right behind me on the short walk back.
I don't have bad dreams anymore but if I see a clown on tv, it sets my phobia off again. A few weeks ago my friends and I watched Scary Movie 2, there's a scene when you see a light under te man's bed and it quickly shows a clown; no one else reacted apart from laughing a bit, but I started screaming in a panic.
And if I go camping or I'm in a strange place at night, every shadow is a clown, every twig snapping or door creaking is him coming to get me.
How can I get over this- I hate having another phobia to add on to arachnophobia, acrophobia, costrophobia..
Would actually watching IT (the movie) help?? My friends say it's really funny and not scary. I was going to watch it in the broad daylight with my good friend but I got so terrified, I lied to her and told her I was really busy and I couldn't go. I spent the rest of the day moping because I had nothing to do. :'(
