Here's one of the articles about it.

Basically what first happened were lots of horrible accusations that likened him to William Pickton, who he was involved in prosecuting (I don't know if news of that carried all the way across the border, but he was a serial killer here who cut up women and fed them to his pigs), and other such mean and wrong implications. Then a whole bunch of articles disputed it and a huge defence for him came forward.

He didn't break any RCMP rules (or any Canadian laws) by posting the pictures or anything, so I think it either blew over or he got transferred to avoid being disrespected.
