How did you get into bdsm?

From memory I'm pretty sure I fisrt became intrigued by the BDSM world from watching porn in my late teens. It turned me on, a feeling I must admit was pretty strange...

Not long after I turned 18 I started working in the sex industry and it was a frequent occurance to be asked to do a lot of submissive type role play. Which again was a massive turn on although less confusing. The only real problem with it is that being a sex worker involves always being in control of the situation even if you are "pretending" not to be. A lesson I admit I learned the hard way. It's not really an environment that you can truly explore your submissive side.

Interesting to see how others found bdsm....For myself, as long as I can remember, I have loved the feeling of being bound.
When I was in my early teens, I would sometimes tie my ankles or legs...and loved the it : )
Now as a 24yo guy, with a dominant partner, submissive seems so natural to me!

the more i think about it, the more i feel like it started really young for me. i'm talking infant-age. always craving physical contact, that developed to compressing clothes- tight feeling socks, simple as they are, have always given me comfort. then i started wearing D ring belts. now all i need is a small paracord bracelet.

what really drew me in (as far as actual BDSM culture) was happening across the artist shiniez on deviantArt.

regardless of HOW, i'm glad that it DID happen.

I'd have to stay it started around 11 or 12, I had a pretty serious issue with depression through my teen years starting around that age. I used to cut & didn't really understand why I enjoyed the pain so much (I later learned about "subspace" which made a whole lot of sense). I was always told you're in control of your own life & must be independent, well I personally believe that complete independence is not for everyone. I have a tendency of getting myself in LITERALLY the worst situation possible & have had the best quality of life ever since I handed over control of my life to my loving Master. I live to serve, much of my happiness comes from pleasing others & not many other things are as rewarding as doing things that please him.

I agree that I too love pleasing others but I am surrounded by people that tell me that this is wrong, that I should live for myself, Which I do but I can't help feel that there is something missing.
I have only just got into the bdsm scene but have explored bondage since the age of seventeen...
I use to self harm during my teens but I don't relate it to bdsm, more to just certain events but I guess I could always be wrong *shrugs*
Also to answer your question I have started to explore bdsm due to certain influences.

I'm a late bloomer, virgin until senior year. I've been with 3 guys, 2 of which were virgins.

Sophomore year a popular senior told me he wanted to tie me up and put me in a little cage and play with me. I blushed so badly on the spot he gestured some of his friends to come over and harass me. I remember being aroused by certain cartoons when I was very young. One was a Beatrix Potter stories where a kitten gets tied up to be made into a pie. I also got very excited by Disney's Aladdin, at the end where Princess Jasmin is held captive and put in chains and cuffs by Jafar. From about 7 years old I used to fantasise about a face-less man sneaking into my bedroom to make me do bad things with him. By high school I remember fantasy's about sex with the devil (when I went through a semi religious period).

By the time I met my first boyfriend at almost 17, I still hadn't linked any of my fantasies together. He introduced to BDSM but at the time I thought perhaps all sex was like that and enjoyed it so much it never crossed my mind to question it. It wasn't until I was around 20 that I realised what I'd been indulging in was BDSM.

I'm lucky enough now to be with someone special now that I can share my quirks and fetishes with.
